Understanding PPM Meters

Just want to get some opinions on where mixers ride their ppm meter
levels. Those who i know that have Cooper & Filmtech mixers run thier
needle as close 0 as possible, being that the reference is at -8 db on
the PPM meter with a max reading of +4. Peaking at about 8 db above
the reference is a good solid level then ?
