I will just say a few things..

People like Michael Moore are not worth discussing, there are many
leftists and also rightists against the Iraq war who are intelligent
and sincere.

Yes,I will admit the U.S has introduced democracy in the Middle East
not mainly due to altruistic reasons but due to the beleif that a less
repressed and dictatorial socieities will not want to vent their
frustration and aggression on others, particularly the Western
nations.Democracy ,free speech etc is just a happy side effect of an
ideology formulated to protect the U.S and others thru a combination of
American cold war style realpolitic and the "neocon" idealism. The war
on terror is a much an ideological struggle as a military one.
I dont beleive that U.S cant quell the "insurgency".If Ariel Sharon
could cripple the second intifada(by far the most brutal "war" Israelis
had to face),Im sure GWB can handle Iraq.

Look at the map of the Middle East,Iraq is between Syria(which is in
turn bordered by its victim Lebanon and U.S. ally Israel) and Iran, both
,especially the latter,on the verge of internal collapse.Iran is
bordered by Afghanistan and Pakistan(technically pro U.S.),so all these
regimes are stuck and cornered.Their previous terrorist network is
almost destroyed. The only trouble comes from Egypt(due to the stature
of Al Azhar University) and oil rich Wahhabi Saudi Arabia(also facing
internal dissent).
