Calvin, you seem to be wrestling with something I'm sure you understand, but are in denial over, or something. Let's examine a few salient points:

"The insurgency is in its last throes."

"We will be welcomed as liberators."

"Nobody anticipated the breach of the levees."

These are examples of statements of "reality" from people on the right in the Chimpy administration, but as anybody with a brain knows, they have little to do with actual reality. Thus, when liberals comment on true reality, contradicting the bullshit statement the right seem to feed on, this is where Colbert's clever line comes from. If we wanted to we could compile at least a hundred of these clueless statements--you know it and I know it. That's what I don't get about you--you seem to have some semblance of sanity left, but you embrace these purveyors of bullshit as if they have something "real" to say. They don't.
