Well, Sharon Stone was 34 and in her physical prime (33 during
filming)
when the the movie that put her on the map, "Basic Instinct,"
premiered. Now, 14 years later and considered past her prime and a
has-been by many, she'll try to resurrect her career with "Basic
Instinct 2", which premieres on Friday. Any thoughts?
Seeing her from interviews, at 48, she's no Charlize Theron or
Angelina
Jolie, but she looks pretty darn good for her age. I'm don't think
young males will enjoy seeing her naked onscreen in her late 40's
nearly as much as they did in her early 30's, though, unless they do a
*lot* of retouching or body doubling.
Anyway, while admittedly they're not doing nude scenes, Julianne Moore
and Jodie Foster are still going strong well into their 40s, so who
knows, Sharon Stone could possibly make a comeback at 48, even though,
save for the flop "Catwoman," she's been off the radar screen for
quite
a while. We'll see if lightning can strike twice.

The problem for actresses like Sharon Stone is that she is 48 but trying
to
look much younger. There is no shortage of up and coming 20- 30
something
beautiful actresses in Hollywood.
use those looks? You are just stating what is true for all actors at
every point in their career.
Thumper
My point is that she is up against actresses who are young. Sharon Stone
does look great for her age but she doesn't look young, she's now in the
Mrs
Robinson pigeon hole.
Nonsense., this is a perfect role for her.
If an actor's career is based on the way they lookI don't for a minute think that "Hollywood" wanted a younger woman
(especially for women) as they get older the basis for their career
evaporates.
You ask why it's a problem to use her looks, it isn't a problem and she's
done exceptionally well. Her problem is that Hollywood generally wants
beautiful young women not beautiful middle aged ones.
for THIS role.
Thumper
I'm referring to her career in general not just this role, she can't just
keep playing this role.
I guess we'll just have to disagree. I can't understand why so many
people on this group are down on actors. It's not as simple as saying
they're good or bad. so much is out of their control.
