How do we know they were terrorists?  Who says they were?  Links?
Jim, If the US Army tells me they were terrorists, I'm inclined to
believe them. They are not over there to kill just anyone. They would
not have gone over the border without good reason.
Cheese 'n Rice!  WTF are you talking about.  Did you miss something that
happened within the past 8 years?  Oh my effin' head hurts from your
"logic".

Sis,

CG has been in places that you could not even fathom. He got to do
some vacationing in Southeast Asia, at Uncle Sam's expense. He's been
there and done that. Unless you have been, I don't expect you to
understand. I'm not putting you down for it, you just had to be there to
understand.
Nonsense.  One would have to be brain-dead to have missed the fact that the
military has been misled and lied to in the worst way.

They were lied to and told that they were being sent to Iraq to get those
who perpetrated the attacks on 9/11/01, they were told that they would be
finding WMDs, they were told "mission accomplished," and the list goes on.

It doesn't matter if you were in Vietnam or Panama or where-ever.  A lie is
still a lie.

And our military has been betrayed by the commander in chief and his gang of
cronies.

THAT should piss off every veteran.

Wage Peace

The HUGE majority of our troops are just as smart as you, Shawn, and
have a much different attitude/agenda...in the macro it (the big lie)
pisses me off (Tonkin Gulf started that) but you got to understand,
Shawn, other than WWII, which was global, and perhaps the
Revolutionary War and War of 1812, there hasn't been *one* of these
things the US has fought that hasn't had an element of untruth.  Go
back in time and check other conflicts (the
Romans,Moors,Crusades,Attilla, heck the English...on and on) and
you'll find alot of politicalness...alot of barbarity and flat-out
conquest!  And through it all the soldiers did what they did, obeyed
orders and soldiered on.  On one hand you are right as can be...on the
other your mindset destroys the effectiveness of our military, to the
point of some other culture having the balls, and barbarity, to
conquer *us*!

I don't know that you can have it both ways:  a kind and compassionate
military that obeys all the *rules* and never gets into it without a
huge amount of oversight...and/or a kickass don't-f*ck-with-us bunch
of warriors that do the deed so you can play trumpet in peace.

I know the world is moving on, but it ain't gonna get there in OUR
lifetimes.  I want an ass kickin' Commander in Chief and badass troops
'cause sure as hell we're gonna need 'em both.

I think we do have bad ass troops, but we need a new Commander in Chief.
We used to stand for something.  We were the ones who didn't torture.
We've fallen backwards and we have to stand for integrity.  It's very
important that we are an example.

Sis ... CG...I was at the Army Air National Guard station at Bradley
airport in CT today.
(Yes I do work for the government and have a high clearance level to
do so)
I was in the helicopter hangers hanging cabinets for tools and such.
Lots of birds being maintained...amazing to watch. I was like a little
kid with Jets, planes and helicopters taking off and landing all day.
My partner and I had a hard time with focus. Charlie...how the hell
did you ever get in one of those things...they scare the hell out of
me.
George

...my dad was a Flying Tiger and we were raised by a crazy pilot and
he was our hero and I *had* to fly and he taught me very young that
upside-down-sideways rollercoaster kinda stuff was FUN!  So, heck, it
was pretty easy, buddy!

Now, you wanna talk *real* balls.  Igor Sikorsky.  As hard as it was
to learn how to fly one of those things (it's like rubbing your belly,
hopping on one foot, scribing a figure eight and reciting the
Declaration of Independence backwards in two minutes!) THAT guy
invented the machine and was the first person to fly one.
SCARY-UNREAL...and they TETHERED the thing to the ground.

He had a wheelbarrow to carry his nuts...and rolled his cigarettes up
in his skin where his t-shirt sleeves would be.

I also was in charge of the Comanche helicopter space at Sikorsky
aircraft. It was a massive 20,000 sq.ft. space to house the engineers
and designers. Top security. with camera's everywhere. 1/8" diamond
steel mesh on all the walls in between layers of rock. 1/2" bars in a
6" x6" grid inside the air ducts, bulletproof glass in the the guard/
entrance booth. Crazy stuff and I delivered it two months ahead of
"their Government schedule" and $200, under budget. {That blew them
away) This was a fun project as the big shots would have weekly
meetings and I would speak for a few minutes to update the critical
path scheduling we came up with. They didn't believe me or my
schedule...Really fast track stuff with multi layers. I had a 300' x
100' room going where we had framers, electricians, sheet-rockers,
tapers and painters in the same room...following after each other.
I finished and handed them the keys two days before xmass, which was
very embarrassing for their suits as the furniture wasn't scheduled to
be delivered till February. That last meeting was a blast...as I
walked out I heard...the man told you December and you decided
February...who made this decision? I got a bonus and a week off:}
Anyway you're still crazy to fly one of those things...God bless ya.
George
