it may not have been from that download but that's when it popped up on my screen... it's a fake spyware - keeps flashing on the screen that it found 45 problems and to send them $30

it's imbedded somewhere... damn pain in the ass

You gotta stop sneaking into that Cadet site! ;-)

attached to Sis's Madison flick is a nasty spyware called spyquake... it is a virus... it definitely has the capability of turning off McAfee antivirus and firewall... it installs icons on your desktop and small ones in the tray and acts like your anti spyware or anti virus...

then it activates itself - lists all the BAD things it found (which it put there) and tries to get you to send them money to delete the problems...

this one is so stupid... but it's nasty only because of its ability to turn off antivirus and firewalls...

If you have it... it takes a few steps to remove it... first, using your program removal tool... locate it and delete it.

beware... when you try and uninstall it, it will work, but it will start up a copy of itself and ask for money again... just close it... then you should find the notice that it has been removed...

Then, run spybot search and destroy or something similar and remove all the crap it put on your machine

most likely, after doing that, you will have to restart the machine as the main part can't be removed until cleaned from memory and run the anti spyware again to get all of it...

after restarting, your antivirus will most likely tell you it's been turned off and ask for permission to turn back on... of course do it...

then - to be safe - run you antivirus

Thanks Tom! Fortunately, I didn't get it, apparently. I hope nobody else does.

How did you find it?
