Lorraine Thelma Cruse Lindsay Upchurch, born November 27, 1918 in Houston, Texas to
Henry and Jessie Cruse passed away Sunday, March 5th, 2006.
Lorraine attended Deady Middle School and graduated from Milby High School. She was
always proud to say she graduated in 1936, the year of the Texas Centennial. She was
the oldest of the three "Cruse Girls" at Milby, and loved dance class, and Drum &
Bugle Corps.
She was of the Christian (Disciples of Christ) faith.
Lorraine worked in the Oil & Gas industry much of her life, working early in her
career at Texas Eastern, and post-child rearing days for various independent oilmen.
Her late husband David Lindsay passed away in 1970.
She is survived by her loving husband Haden J. Upchurch, daughter and son-in-law
Larissa Lindsay and Stuart Bailey; son and daughter-in-law Jack & Nancy Lindsay; her
sisters June (Mrs. C.T.) Parker, and Ferne (Mrs. Lee) Dawson of Conroe; grandson
David Lindsay of Valley View; granddaughter Laura Michalik and husband Brian,
great-grandchildren Brandon & Carson; Step-son Michael Upchurch and wife Katerina,
Step-son-in-law, Joe Davis, New Franklin, Missouri. She is also leaves numerous
nieces and nephews, and her dog Midnight.
The funeral service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday,
the 8th of March in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons. Interment will follow,
via escorted cortege, in Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent
to Planned Parenthood, 3601 Fannin, Houston 77004, or Rice University Glass***
