Carol Girard, 73, of Foxcroft Road, Enfield, widow of Lawrence Larry Girard, Sr., who
died in 1995, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Monday,
(December 2, 2002) at her residence.
Born in Springfield, MA on May 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Edward and
Mary (Niznik) Garvulenski. A former West Springfield resident, she was a graduate of
West Springfield High School. She had been an Enfield resident since 1950.
Carol was employed as a manager by Hart Ceramics for 10 years and was a certified
ceramics instructor.
She was a communicant of St. Adalbert Church where she was a former First Grade C.C.D
instructor.
Carol co-founded, with her late husband, Larry, the Enfield Sabers Drum and Bugle
Corps from 1953 until 1979. She loved needlework and crafts and dedicated her life
helping others.
Carol is survived by her sons, Lawrence E. Girard, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of
Windsor Locks and Edward A. Girard and his wife, Kathleen, of Enfield; her daughters,
Michele M. Girard of Winnsboro, SC, and Yvette Jones and her husband, Jim, of San
Jose, CA; a brother, Edward Garvulenski, of Chicopee, MA; a sister, Mary Elizabeth
"Betty Gourinski, of Enfield; five grandchildren, Nichole Lippert, Midshipman Michael
Lippert, Charles Girard, Yvonne Girard and Renee Ritchie; a great-grandson, Donovan
White; and many neighbors and close friends. She was predeceased by a grandson,
Edward Lawrence Girard.
Funeral services for Carol will be held on Friday, December 6, with a procession at 9
a.m. from the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield followed by the
Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Adalbert Church, 90 Alden Avenue,
Enfield. Interment will be held in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Her
family will receive friends at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on Thursday, December 5,
2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert Church, 90 Alden Avenue, Enfield,
CT 06082 or the charity of one's choice.
