Frank E. Evans, Sr., 89, of Harrisburg, died Thursday, June 9, 2005 in Harrisburg
Hospital.
He was a retired welder for the former Pennsylvania Railroad, a member of St. Paul
A.M.E. Church, Oberlin and former member of Carlisle American Legion Drum and Bugle
Corps.
Frank was the widower of Sarah Jane Hinton Evans and was preceded in death by four
children, Frank, Jr., James, Robert and William Evans. He is survived by three
daughters, Mercedes R. Thomas and Barbara Slaughter, both of Harrisburg and Helena
Turner of Oberlin Gardens; two sons, Alonzo F. Evans of Harrisburg and Charles L.
Evans of Enhaut; numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2005 at 1 p.m. in New Hope Living
Baptist Church, 395 S. Second Street, Steelton with Rev. R. Mim Harvey, his niece and
Pastor of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, officiating. Burial Baldwin Cemetery. A viewing
will be held on Friday from 12 Noon until 1 p.m. in the church.
Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton.

Oberlin, PA 17113.
