I would also suggest you do a bit of experimenting with alkyds. You can get
both alkyd oil colors and alkyd mediums. Generally alkyds dry over night.
But a word of caution, Best usage is alkyd oil colors with traditional
mediums ( linseed oil, turps etc.) and use alkyd mediums with traditional
oils. Also remember that oils come in both transparent and opaque colors,
and that transparent colors can be made more opaque with the addition of
white.

hi Leo,
I would advice you to use a combination of linseed oil with a thinner
like turpentine oil, it will speed up the drying process. Since you
already used linseed oil, put the canvas under the sun, covering it
with linen, it will not accumlate dust.
You can experiment with the underlying layer and use thick colours
before drying or wait till the layer dries if planning to use thin
colours.
hope this helps.
Thanks

I am learning how to do oil painting and I have difficulty applying
color on top of painted colors. I am just using linseed oil as my
medium.
Am I supposed to wait for the bottom oil to dry first?
or there are some kind of medium I can use to get the oil to dry faster
and/or increase the opaqueness of the color?
Thanks for any advice
