"Draw Me?" You mean those match-book covers advertising "Famous Artist's
School:? ;-)
You mean those ads are still current?
I was a kid - about a century ago - when I
took up that challenge. And of course everyone
who does so is told what potential they have
and what wonderful candidates they are for the
Famous Artists School! And no, I didn't subscribe.
In fact I didn't begin dabbling in art until
I was in my mid-thirties. Another opportunity
squandered by not signing up for the Famous
Artist School in my youth!
I took that test too, when I was 9 - lied about my age. They said I had
talent but my work indicated I was too young to take the course. Nuts - I
could've saved time and money on art school by taking that course instead.
The Famous Artist and Famous Writers schools were shut down by the feds
years ago. What still exists is the little 'Draw Me' course that hasn't
changed since we were kids. There is also an elaborate tv ad for a school
that promises to make you a famous artist. Guess we just missed the boat.
I tried to draw it, but it kept coming out like "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon"...I shouldn't have become intimidated. Oh, Well...
