Even if we can rationalize a divergent parallel Earth, that preserved the
Doctor's personal time line but the rest of the universe progressed
without the Daleks or the Time Lords, there is no Davros to rescue. The
rescued Davros must be from the universe that this new one diverged from,
and thus require the use of another void ship. But then if the universe
diverged, why is the Doctor's time line preserved in the first place?

See what I mean by "Mix-and-Match"?

But that's what you get with virtually any story involving time travel you
care to mention. Analyse most of them and they won't hold up too well.
Remember the photograph of Marty in "Back to the Future"? Or how about John
Connor's father coming from the future in Terminator? The 2 Spocks in the
latest Star Trek movie?

And Doctor Who has been mixing and matching from the beginning. What did the
1st Doctor tell Barbara about trying to re-write history in the Aztecs? Yet
how many times has that also been ignored?

So RTD is mixing and matching with the best of them. He's written Who his
way. What Moffat will do, only he knows. But I'm guessing he's quite happy
to take the baton that's been passed to him and just carry on. He's
inheriting RTD's world - and that means the stuff you don't like as well as
the stuff you do.
