Surely it only establishes that UNIT knows Mars to be or to have been
inhabited by *something*, and they know what that something looks
like. The Martians UNIT knows of might not be Ice Warriors after all
-- given UNIT's history, they might think that the Osirans were
natives of Mars, and that therefore Martians are Jackal-headed
humanoids.
I think only Ice Warriors have been described as 'Martians' in the
show before that story. We know UNIT is aware of Ice Warriors; do we
have any reason to believe they know about the Osirans?
