..""I was there at the very first Easter. What really happened was.
downI completely missed that ( I did watch it at 1am after an evening
the
pub ). Good, anything that gets under Yad`s collar is OK with me!
rI thought it was a fun line and am a bit surprised there aren't any
representatives of the religious right shouting the episode down fo
it as we speak.
Oh I`m sure Yads will throw a fit.
He didn't seem to understand the implication.
As there are four "canonical" versions of the crucifixion in the Bible,
it could be that the Doctor was going to say which one was the most
accurate. I doubt that that would offend the Bible bashing nutjob.
Easter itself is the resurrection, not the crucifixion. But I'm sure
you know that's rather unlikely to be the implication RTD intended
when writing the line.
Phil
Nevertheless Po's point remains valid. There are four canonical
versions of the Resurrection as well.
All different, or similar but with different emphasis? For instance,
looking up the four stories of Jesus' burial only one (that he was
buried in a family tomb in a garden) seems inconsistent with the
others; although the other three differ slightly in detail, they could
conceivably be referring to a single site and a single ritual.
As to RTD's intentions, well I
suspect he likes to think he can wind people up by the things he
doesn't say.
Exactly, hence my surprise that no one yet seems to have been wound
up.

Wound up by *what* exactly? The Doctor didn't say anything - that line went
absolutely nowhere...
"I was there at the very first Easter. What really happened was..."
There's nothing there controversial whatsoever, Phil. I think that's just
in your mind!
