good fit for the part. Mind you, I said something similar about
Christopher, and he turned out to be excellent because he brought
something new to the character.
And besides, the Doctor is a white male; there are black time lords, and
I imagine other ethnicities ("lots of planets have a Mauritius", or
something), but the Doctor isn't one of them.
Imagine if, for example, you grew up and developed an intellect; while
you-with-an-intellect would be quite good and probably welcomed, the
change just wouldn't fit, it would be too jarring.

I'm not sure that it's racist, just lazy, ignorant, disrespectful and

Nothing against the male part but white?!
Surely HM subjects are not just white anymore.
prejudice to be against the other part.
Because surely HM subjects are not just male.
Also Duncan did not say anything about keeping the role for white
and male actors. He did say that he didn't think the actor would be
right for the role - and to some extent I agree. Both are too well
ingrained in the public eye at the moment and I have a few concerns
about them being able to pull off the odd other-worldly quality the
Doctor has.
As to a female Doctor - I am doubtful. I would imagine it would
shake up the formula too much - would the companion still be a young
woman or a young man? What would the relationship be like? Would it
still appeal to the 8-14 year olds? In the past male companions worked
as part of a larger TARDIS crew. The current format gives little
opportunity for good stories involving a Doctor and multiple companions.
I think that all current stories seem to imply that Time Lords have a fixed
sexual diamorphism.
Regenerating into a female just would reaaly need explanation.
Rather not go there.
It wouldn't need any explanation, given that 90% of the people The
Doctor meets have never met him (her) before. Nor would he / she need to
explain it to him / her self as I imagine Time Lords wouldn't be as
prejudiced as you.
How about biologics or does that not appeal to you?
