I didn't watch it, but thirty years ago I read and enjoyed the book.
I was tempted to watch it because the casting of Zoe Wanamaker as Mrs
Oliver was... interesting.
The book is set in the late 50s or early 60s, IIRC. Is the TV version
set in the late 20s, like most of the other Poirot adaptations? If so,
AC's ideas about "modern women" would be rather misplaced.
Late 30s. There's a reference to 1917 being about 20 years ago.
The modern women have become the bright young things suitable for that
era, and the Cold War subplot has been removed totally, along with all
the other changes.
