IIRC, sometime ago Aggy had a rant about Jeremy Clarkson being
"censured" (for want of a better word) about using the phrase "Ginger
Beer" on Top Gear
In The Unicorn and the Wasp, when he is in the kitchen trying to detox
himself one of the first things the Doctor says is "Ginger Beer" and I
think it was to the servant who was the son's boyfriend.
So, I do wonder if the powers that be in DW Prod Off get some
inspiration from the pontifications of Chairman Aggy that are posted
here? Did Gridlock come about because of a randy cat in Northampton?

As I pointed out weeks ago, the same episode (Unicorn and The Wasp) had
the Vicar shouting "Poppy***" plus insect-human sex. Yes of COURSE it's
a nod to Aggy. It wasn't the whole raisin de entry (as Aggy might say)
for the episode of course but a few additions to get him worked up here
for the benefit of BBC lurkers.... :)
Why else was the poodle mentioned in that Torchwood episode?

I always thought that was a very different sort of joke, a play on
how, having discovered that while he was unable to hurt humans, the
Buffy the Vampire Slayer character Spike, also played by James
Marsters, was able to fight demons. When he discovers this, he
immediately tries to join the side of the demo-fighters, and gives a
faceteous speech about wanting to serve the side of honor and goodness
and "puppies and kittens".
Hmm, I think if they'd wanted to insert a Buffy joke they'd have done
something a bit less obscure - and I don't think Spike meant he
fancied puppies and kittens.
