Re: When did Doctor Who jump the shark for you?

Socrates taught his students that the pursuit of truth can only begin once
they start to question and analyze every belief that they ever held dear. If
a certain belief passes the tests of evidence, deduction, and logic, it
should be kept. If it doesn't, the belief should not only be discarded, but
the thinker must also then question why he was led to believe the erroneous

Actually on that note, I think for me maybe the reason the McCoy era
was such a step up is that prior to that point the show under JNT had
been about corporate sensibilities- aiming the show at its
demographic, making it look expensive or respectably beautiful
(Leisure Hive or even Mark of the Rani), style over substance. And you
might say that the Colin Baker era did lap up very right wing
attitudes, particularly in The Two Doctors, and the general
chauvinistic treatment of Peri. Indeed Vengeance on Varos was
apparently held back and heavily edited because JNT considered it 'too
political'.

So for me I think the turning point was the cancellation. The point
where Doctor Who as a show became a pariah of television. And I think
in that environment the show rediscovered its purpose as being daring,
rebel TV, and started getting its hands dirty with politics and issues.

REmembrance of the Daleks could have been better.
