Since RTD's writing it and it's the finale I don't hold out much hope
- I expected Doomsday to be bad, but for the first time I'm actively
dreading a Who story.

On the other hand, I'm really looking forward to the finale. And precisely
because RTD's writing it...

I don't know. I think RTD's really good at setting up dramatic situations but I don't think he's awfully good at resolving them. Last year was a case in point. "Utopia" was very good. "The Sound Of Drums" built the tension nicely. But "Last Of The Timelords" was lame. It had a good idea (Martha 'speading the word') but it was let down by careless execution (Doctor as "Christ") and a reset button kicked so hard that it screamed for mercy. It had really good moments. When The Doctor cradled the dying Master Tennant reminded us why he's playing Hamlet for the RSC, but when the reset button has just been beaten to a whimpering pulp it's hard to believe that anything worth getting engaged about has actually happened.
