I like to leave my brain switched on while being entertained.

Then why do you chose televison for your entertainment? When I want
entertainment and thought, I read a book.

I hate this idea that books are automatically 'better' or 'more worthy' than television.

There are 'brain in neutral' books, and there's 'thinky' TV.

Television is a medium, not a genre

I repeated the same thing over and over because:

a) I believe it to be true

If you truly believed it, would you need to keep on justifying it over
and over again like that...?

I was pointing out that the same response was usable for each of your points - yes I could have lumped your points together and said "none of those thing make up for a piss poor script", but I felt that addressing your points one-by-one was more effective.

and

b) None of the things you listed in VOTD's defence are ANY way to
measure good TV.

Eh? What? Pardon? Sorry? I only listed _one_ thing in VOTD's defence
("I believe fluff makes good TV")

I'm sorry, I thought you listed "fluff", "celebrity appearances", "sly digs" and "References to past episodes".

Someone else must have slid those things into your post.
