RTD reportedly wanted this to be a disaster movie
I have to say that's what I felt I was watching - a remake of a heap of
old disaster movies... in particular - The Poseidon Adventure...
Isn't that the feeling you get watching any disaster movie? Disaster
movies are always the same almost by definition - the predictability
is all part of the experience. The only thing that changes is the
window dressing of the disaster itself. Ripping off older films,
cardboard cutout characters - if this were made as a film for cinema
rather than as a Doctor Who special no one would be complaining
because that's exactly what disaster movies are all about. At least
this one didn't have a romantic subplot.
