Re: Anti-McCoy T-shirts now in stock....

Oh, I just love this one. Hope you don't mind me responding this way.

Many pro-McCoy fans insist this wasn't all Sylvester's fault - that low production values and poor scripts were also to blame - but at the end of the day I just ask them if they think the show would have also have hit rock bottom had Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker still been playing the Doctor. The simple answer is (of course) "no".

No, that's totally wrong. It would be "yes".

This is the one fact the pro-McCoy's can't dispute.

Pffft... I am.

McCoy has little or no acting skills to speak of and displays an awesome lack of talent more generally witnessed in infant nativity plays.

Or in Anti-McCoy websites.

An AMT refers to an Anti-McCoy troll, an unflattering nickname given to
people that promote the Anti-McCoy philosophy.

It's true, it's true!

Fans also dislike the companions of this era, citing Bonnie Langford's horrible portrayal of Melanie Bush, an annoying anorexic little twit.

No disagreements there.

Almost equal criticism is leveled at chubby faced Sophie Aldred, though accepted as an improvement over Mel.

See the end of 'Dragonfire' where she shouts "Ace!" I just pretend
Season 24 never happened. Quite probably the worst moment in the show's
history.

Anti-McCoy fans dislike the stories of this era, the writing and direction under Cartmel being totally wrong for the series.

Possibly. The BF audios, NAs and PDAs have redeemed this era. I used to
think it was pretty crap, but look at something like 'Greatest Show' or
'Ghostlight'. Much better.

They dislike JNTs panto style and Keff McCulloch's cheesy synthesized scores.

Sure, I do. I laugh every time I watch 'Dimensions in Time'. But have
you ever heard of Mark Ayres?

They dislike the opening title sequence and music as well.

Agreed. Totally didn't suit it.

They dislike the costuming of the seventh doctor and Ace. They dislike the Umbrella prop.

I hated the question marks JNT brought in.

Ultimataly, the reasons are endless, and many of them vary between individual Anti-McCoy fans. However, it almost always comes down to the overall quality, or lack thereof, of the stories and the ineptitude of McCoy's portrayal of the doctor.

Bit low, that is. He played it well. Well, maybe he overacted
sometimes, but, generally, he did well.

However, many people would argue that season 24 'feels' more like Doctor Who than seasons 25 and 26.

They do? Pray tell me why.

Some people would argue that season 25 is actually the worst.

'Silver Nemesis'. That limo scene was awful.

People seem to argue for season 26 as the best McCoy season. Some people even claim that season 26 is a vast improvement over the other McCoy seasons and generally a decent year for the program.

It was. Don't tell me you didn't like 'Survival'.

For this reason, a lot of McCoy fans seem to dislike Pertwee.

I liked the early '70s. Especially 'Spearhead from Space' and
'Inferno'.

Pertwee fans often recognize this era as the 'Golden Age' of Doctor Who, while McCoy fans frequently disrespect this premise.

I do. I also don't think there is any 'Golden Age'. The closest you'd
come to this, in my opinion at least, would be the period from about
1975-1977 (see 'The Talons of Weng-Chiang' and 'Genesis' as two
excellent examples of this).

The two sides are so diametrically opposed, that a viable solution will never be reached.

Simple. Pick another era. ;)

One thing is for certain though, the Pertwee era is wonderful and the McCoy era is simply crap :)

I'd never go that far. I think that they probably balance out in many
ways.

Anti-McCoy people get understandably upset because they don't like to hear the unenlightened and immature make the claim that any of the McCoy stories are as good as the classics from the first four eras.

So I'm immature now, am I? How come *you* have this website and I don't
have a pro-McCoy one? AND unenlightened?

There's no way to justify criticism of those who are hostile to the McCoy era, because those anti-McCoy people know and appreciate what Doctor Who once was and were sickened by what it had become during the McCoy years.

And I don't? Really, all these generalisations and insults. You'd think
YOU were immature by the way you go on about this. Mind you, I am
writing a long and almost-detailed response.

People who like McCoy must by definition be immature losers who cannot or do not appreciate what Doctor Who once was.

I could retaliate, but I'm not going to lower myself to your level.

Now, I know this all comes down to personal preference (like the whole
debate of what is and what isn't canon), but you could at least use
decent English. And stop being so immature. And at least use
imagination when designing a website. Learn how to write properly (not
just in decent English, as I've already mentioned, but also when it
comes to your pseudo-songs and -poems).

But I'll give you something. Those DVD covers work a treat.
