Their response have been to trash talk everyone who doesn't believe in

Then it was a seriously bad idea to put so much trash talk in your
opening post of this thread too.

Forgive me then. Turn the other cheek. And answer the question.

Jesus supposedly forgave guys who were murdering him but you can't forgive a
smart-ass?

Who said you were unforgivable? I like a level of banter, sometimes. I
try not to get carried away myself. You are right, Jesus said turn the
other cheek. Unfortunately at times I feel extremely tempted to turn
both cheeks.

What I'm asking is do Christians think a future hundreds or even thousands
of years will exist or is this incompatible with what seems the popular idea
that Jesus is coming back to destroy everything and take the faithful with
him to Heaven.

The bible references refer to the end of the world coming "like a thief
in the night" - ie nobody will know exactly when it will be. It could
be a thousand years time (it's been two already); or it could be
tomorrow. But for each of us personally, we are more likely to meet our
end on this earth tomorrow than in a thousand years!

I agree, it's more likely some religiously motivated nut will try to kill
everyone with a nuke or some poison because they can't get their way.

It seems unreasonable to me that the IMMENSE Universe we live in will be
ended for a few million of Jesus' believers to go to "Heaven".

And for me. To my way of thinking, and this is how I understand
scripture, is that life will go on here for billions of years.
Armageddon is not to be understood as a planet ending event, merely a
change of the system, an end of the politico-economic-religious system
which has destroyed the place. Rev 11:18- 'he will bring to ruin those
ruining the Earth'. Not a species destroying event. In time I believe
that space travel, colonization will occur. After all, planets are
being discovered every day, there must be millions of planets habitable
by humans in this galaxy alone.

It has nothing to do with what tv programmes we enjoy though.

But if you think Jesus is coming again wouldn't this would be of paramount
importance and make considering science fiction moot?

It is obviously of secondary importance. But I play the piano, write
music, sing, play chess, play cricket, and civilization as well.

Science fiction is just killing time for you?

Not necessarily. Although I might dodge the Satan Pit when it airs in a
few weeks. If this system is still around that is.

Simple question and no one can answer it.

No, nobody cares to answer it to you, because nobody for a minute
believes you are genuinely interested in an answer, rather than an
excuse for more trash talk.

Ah, so the question so offends you that an answer is unnecessary?

Well, I feel no compulsion to respond to smart alecky questions, but I
can respond if I choose to.

It is a free universe.
