I was hanging out with the cool kids in rec.arts.drwho when
Jaxtraw got out a spraycan and scrawled the following:

Why don't you just admit that you hate God because he didn't save your
dying mother's life or didn't intervene when your kid was dying of
some horrid disease. Some of you atheists are so obvious. I don't
believe in Buddhism, but if I Buddhist came in here and talked about
his religion I wouldn't say a word. But the level of anger and
hatred some of you atheists have is quite clearly the result of
actually believing what you claim not to believe and hating God
because you can't tell him to his face what an *** you think he
is.
You're way off the mark. I've simply never believed in God. As a small child
I sort of accepted what I was told but it never really stuck with me in any
way and I never had to turn away from Faith or anything because I never had
any. Once I became old enough to question things, it always just seemed
absurd. Though I'm still rather proud of my small but pivotal role as
"Innkeeper" in the church nativity when I was 8.
I was told that I was frighteningly good (or at least, frightening) as
Herod - but I don't think that playing the bad guy was responsible for
my later gradual shift towards atheism.
