Is it just me, or is David Tennant actually...well...*a bit ****?
Or is it the writing in the new series? The scripts just seem so
downright *hammy* (I'm sick of hearing him saying how wonderful human
beings are with that stuck-on smile) and the scripts are very
unimaginative - the promised Cybermen double-episode was absolutely
dreadful and didn't go anywhere near the heights of 'Bad Wolf' or
'Dalek'.
In fact, IMO the promise shown by the first series with Eccleston has
really not been lived up to this time around. He was a very natural
actor, without seemingly feeling a compulsion to overstate the lines or
'act up' to the cameras. Even Billie Piper - something of a revelation
in the first series - is coming across as a over-cosmetically dentured
chav; this whole 'sexual chemistry' business is so dreary and
predictable, and the quasi-religious drivel of 'Impossible Planet' (a
sort of cross between 'Doom 3' and 'Alien' without the natural appeal of
either, so far - and did anyone else recognise the door sounds?) has
really got the feeling of 'oh well...about time'.
Hopefully, though we have seen the back of Rose's dreary mother and her
bloody boyfriend, though.

Its the writing. That hugging *** was downright embarrassing. And yes
I noticed the door sound was ripped straight out of the original Doom -
poor show.
