given what we'd already seen of their acting, i'd have to go with
mcgann - only because he'd gotten to show a sweet, naive and vulnerable
side of himself in his previous roles (which ecclestone hadn't) that i
think is a vital part of the doctor's character.

of course, we all know how sweet, naive and vulnerable ecclestone can
be now, and we're very happy for it. :)

actually, to be brutal, i wouldn't pick either one of them. or the kid
who played lee. they all just bug me. i'd like to see the kid who
played the son in rab c. nesbit get a shot at playing a companion, or
someone like kd lang. (nine hundred years and there's never been an
avowed lesbian in the tardis? for shame!)
