It looks like a car rental for a day or two would be the best way to go.
Though I have never driven in the Orlando area. Should be interesting....
Where is the WDW Care Center located ??
thanks for you input.
The Car Care Center is located near the Magic Kingdom parking lot. Both
Alamo and National rent out of there. If you're staying at a WDW hotel, they
can send a van to pick you up and bring you to the rental counter, and then
when you drop it off they'll bring you back to your hotel, or even to one of
the theme parks, if you want.
If you're staying at one of the Epcot Resorts (Yacht Club, Beach Club or
Boardwalk), you can also rent from Alamo and National out of the Dolphin,
which is within easy walking distance of those resorts.
As for Magical Express, if your flight arrives at Orlando International
Airport (MCO) and you're staying at a WDW resort, you can use Magical
Express.
By your use of "holiday" instead of "vacation" I'm presuming you're from the
UK or elsewhere in Europe. Be aware that some international charter flights
fly to Orlando-Sanford Airport (SFB)... Magical Express does *not* offer
service to Orlando-Sanford, only Orlando International.
Peppermint Patty's response about luggage wasn't quite right, though.
Baggage tagged with the yellow DME luggage tags arriving on *any* airline is
routed to the Disney luggage facility to be transported to the Disney
resorts. You don't have to be flying on a specific airline.
If you're arriving on an international flight and Orlando is your first
entry into the U.S., you *will* have to claim your checked bags when you get
off the plane. You'll then go through Customs with your luggage. After
Customs you'll give your suitcase *back* to the airport staff, and that's
when it will be routed to the DME luggage handlers. International DME-tagged
bags are not pulled until *after* Customs. (I believe after Customs you also
have the option of keeping your suitcase with you and just bringing it with
you on the DME bus, but if you want to use the luggage delivery feature,
you'll have to give it back to the airport staff)
The only time a "Participating Airline" comes into play (which is what
Peppermint Patty was kind of getting at) would be when using the Resort
Airline Check-In when you're going BACK to the airport. With RAC you can
check your luggage and get your boarding pass while you're still at your
hotel, but you have to be flying on one of the airlines that participates in
it.
But if you're flying international, you can't use Resort Airline Check-In
anyway... You have to take your luggage with you to the airport and check-in
there. (Your pick-up time to go back to the airport will also be 4 hours
before your flight, rather than the usual 3, because of the extra time
needed for international flights)
