Re: Disney Vacation Club - Disney World

I've been a member since 1997, so I know the answers to some of the
questions.

As for buying during a WDW trip & having the cost of your resort
applied towards the cost of your dvc - yes, they do that but you're
also using an equivalent # of points in exchange for that. For
example (these numbers may not be real), if you're staying at Poly for
5 nights at $300/night, that's $1500. If they give you $1500 off the
dvc purchase price, they'll figure what that lodging would have cost
you in comparable dvc lodging and deduct that # of points from your
first year. Let's say it was 120 points.....you buy in with a 160
point membership and you now have 40 points left in your first year.

If a member doesn't pay their dues, their existing reservations are
canceled and they cannot book any new ones until their account is
current. If this went on and on, then Disney would undoubtedly go
through the foreclosure process. I would assume the exact steps would
vary based on whether there was a purchase balance due to them, to
someone else, or just the dues in arrears. Perhaps a lawyer could
answer for sure.

As for OKW only being worth an $8-9/point rental price - lol, give me
a break! Try booking a studio there for cash from CRO and you'll see
what the unit is worth. Even when they deeply discount OKW or SSR
it's still $174-179 plus tax, so figure $200/night. Even at $10-12/
point you're not likely to come close to that on weekdays......and if
you're staying on Fr/Sa night book those in cash from CRO to save a
few bucks.

OKW studios do tend to have a problem with neighbor noise - thanks to
the connecting door being located right in the sleeping area of the
studio, and due to the increase in incredibly rude/ignorant guests out
there (members and renters). My worst experiences have been at OKW -
and I do NOT believe the rude/ignorant loudmouths with screaming
screeching children tend to stay there - it's just that the location
of the door lets me feel like I'm sitting in their living room with
them at times! Luckily, that experience only happens once in a while,
as not everyone is rude/ignorant/loud and traveling with screaming/
screeching kids <g>.
