The trucks only seem to have one gear, a very low gear. Probably for
two reasons; one, controllability, since it'd probably be disastrous
for one of the trucks to run over an animal, and two, it's easier to
move a heavy vehicle with an underpowered engine.

So when those trucks hit their top speed, or when they have to move up
an incline, the engine roars. And many of the CM's seem to drive those
trucks like the accelerator is an on/off switch.

They could probably make the vehicles quieter, but then you'd hear
the guides and other sound effects from other nearby trucks.

Now let's talk about the V-8 sounds they pump through the
speakers in the Test Track vehicles. Those always make
me laugh... :-)
