thunder and lightning with it but I remember that I have been on Big
Thunder Mountain when the rain has come with no lightning but as it
gets heavier they shut down. It hurts to ride something that fast in
the rain anyways. Disney has weather trackers and will shut down in
an instant even before the storm hits the parks.
Yes, Disney has its own weather center that issues alerts for various conditions. Like Sue said, if there is lightning within some number of miles, they close all outdoor attractions, water attractions (including pools) and the boat service. They also decide on parade and fireworks cancellations. Years ago, we had booked an Illuminations cruise and I ended up on the phone with a CM who was on her other line with the weather center. They kept telling her that Illuminations would go on as it was clearing. At that time, at AKL, it was like a monsoon and it had been raining pretty steadily all day. Well, lo and behold, five minutes before our cruise departure, the skies cleared completely. I think Disney's weather watchers are pretty accurate and know what they are doing.
