Re: 2008 Resort Reservations Questions

WOW-thank you both for the quick and informative replies!

So, just to clarify:

1) As far as resort reservations: It sounds like a separate Disney
certified travel agent is a better route than calling Disney direct
because the separate travel agent will monitor for discounts, whereas
the agents through Disney direct will not monitor and alter price
based on upcoming discounts. Is this correct?
-Do you recommend Mouse Fan Travel as a good Disney certified travel
agent to use?
-Will Mouse Fan Travel accomodate as far as specific savannah views
and buildings to stay in, just the same as going through Disney
direct?

2) I did end up calling Disney Resort Reservations for info and they
said they only require a $200 deposit for now (pay in full 45 days
prior to travel). Is this the same at the Mouse Fan Travel?

3) Groceries: Sounds like its more hassle than it's economically worth-
just for breakfast foods. I think we'll just pack some PB&J in our
suitcase-thanks for the info!

4) Last question: Is it cheaper to get WDW park tickets separately
through a place like Maple Leaf Tickets or does shipping end up to be
the same as going through Disney directly? We are interested in a 5
day Park Hopper, and I saw on Maple Leaf that there is a deal where
you buy a 4 day pass and receive a 5th day free.

Thanks so much-we havent been to WDW since mid 1990's and we are very
excited to return!!

1) What is the best website/service to go through for resort
reservations?

My personal feeling is that it's best to book with a Disney certified travel
agent. They don't cost you a penny and they will monitor your reservation
for any discounts Disney might offer between the time you book and your date
of arrival. If discounts are announced, often they can convert your rate to
the discounted rate.

Try Mouse Fan Travel for a free, no-obligation quotehttp://www.MouseFanTravel.com.

Your second best way is to call Disney directly.

...and the very worst way is to book on-line where you can't ask questions
about options, etc.

-We do have a few special requests and would like to do our best to
get them filled.

The best way to get your special requests filled is to have them noted omn
your original reservation. You can ask your travel agent or the Disney
reservations folks to do this for you.

2) Going along with the question above, is it in our best interest to
go ahead and make our resort reservations now? Will this better ensure
any requests we have?

Book now ...and let the travel agent monitor your reservation for any
discounts that might be offered. (Disney will NOT do this for you; only a
travel agent.) You really don't have anything to lose and the earlier you
book, the better your choices will be.

3) We were thinking of requesting a fridge in our room and buying
yogurt and cereal to save $$ on going out to breakfast.

Both the moderate and deluxe resorts have complimentary fridges in the rooms
already. You won't have to order one specifically.

-Are there markets close to WDW?
-Whats the best way to get to a market if you do not have a car?

Without a car, it's hard to get to a market. Each of the resort gift shops
have a limited number of food items for sale (milk, cereal, donuts, juice,
etc.) so you might be able to make do with what you can find there or at the
food courts, but you can also have groceries delivered to your resort after
your arrival. (There will be a delivery charge and probably a minimum
order.) Here are some places to check on this...

Another suggestion is to pack an extra suitcase with non-perishables like
cereals, granola bars, trail mix, etc. You can then purchase milk at the
gift shop and use the empty suitcase for your souvenirs (or dirty clothes)
;-)
