Whenever we ran into the Brazillians they were bouncing up and down
and chanting something?!?!
They stuck together in big groups and were really loud and running
everywhere. We really didn't see many cheerleaders until the last day
when we went to MGM (Sat) and they were performing there. Big
mistake! I read your trip report and really enjoyed it. I remember you
saying you had trouble with the cheerleaders.

Janice - my daughter and I were there basically the same time you and your
family were - We arrived late on the 5th and left on the 13th. It's funny
because we only ran into a Brazillian group 1 time and they were ever so nice.
But the cheerleaders were the rude crew! I'd never seen anything like it! I'm
enjoying your TR and it's fun reading your experiences during the same time we
were there!

Day 4, Tuesday February 6
Me- Janice
Husband- Mark
Daughter-17- Kim
Son -12- Michael
February 3-10, Beach Club Villa 1 Bedroom
Today is much warmer. It is in the high 60's and sunny. Really nice.
We are up by 7 and I make a run to the Marketplace. I use counter
service credits for the guy's breakfasts and my daughter and I have
muffins and diet coke. My husband decides to stay in the room for a
while and handle some e-mail. We head out about 8:00 for Epcot.
There is no one in the park. No lines at all. We decide to do some
favorites- Spaceship Earth, Ellen, Nemo again, Living with the Land.
We walked on all of them. Living with the Land no longer has a CM
narrating. I miss that- and this trip we could have used one. An
extended family of mom, 2 small kids, and grandma and grandpa got on
in the rows behind us. They talked really loud through the whole
thing. The mom pointed out "cute" things to the toddler that had
nothing to do with the spiel to keep her amused and I couldn't hear a
thing. Good thing my husband wasn't with us. I would have been
ugly.
I find we are spending a lot more time in the parks since there are no
crowds. During Easter week, it is so crowed that we usually last
about 2 hours and then flee to another park or the hotel. We have
barely been back to the hotel at all. It is so relaxing just to hang
out in the parks with no crowds.
My husband joins us around 11:00. We have an ADR at L'Originale at
12:00 but no one is in the mood. They want to "eat around the
world". I cancel it and we set out to find food. We stop at Mexico
and get some tacos and nachos to split and then on to Germany for
brats and beer. We plan on funnel cakes but are too stuffed. We
stopped in Italy just as they are casting "Romeo and Edna" and my
daughter and I wisely hide around a corner. My husband is snagged for
Romeo. It was a lot of fun but I don't think it's as funny as the Holy
Grail. We shop around and buy some pins. My son buys a gift for his
teacher and reproduction of the Declaration of Independence.
This week is bookended with cheerleading championships at the WW of
Sports. We have seen a few groups of cheerleaders but they have been
small groups of 6 or 8 and have been very quiet and well behaved. But
there have also been LARGE groups of Brazilian teens. Not so well
behaved. But they have not been a big problem because crowds are so
light. They are just really annoying.
We have dinner ADR at 50s Prime Time for 5:30 so we head back to the
hotel to get our jackets for the evening. We catch the boat to MGM
about 3:00. We head over to RR to get a FP (I do not go on this
either). They get a FP and get in line. It is posted at 15 min but is
less. TT is also very short. We go to GMR and then head over to
Prime Time. This place is packed. We arrive about 5:20 and are not
seated until 6:00. The last time we ate here my kids were small. My
daughter still remembers being told to get her elbows off the table
and being scolded for not eating all her food. She never wanted to
come back. Well, that was 11 years ago and I talked her into giving
it another try. This is a kid that wouldn't let us sing happy
birthday to her until she was 12 because it embarrassed her to have
everyone looking at her. Our server, Michael, was great- really fun
but not pushy. I decided to skip the appetizer (and have dessert!).
My husband had a salad and the kids had onion rings. They said they
were really good. My daughter and I ordered the fried chicken (dark
meat only) with green beans instead of the greens that came with it.
We both thought it was really good (and finished our veggies). My son
had the pot roast and my husband had the meat loaf. It was all good.
Michael brought us the view master and my husband and I ordered the
hot fudge sundae, my daughter had the angel food cake with berries and
whipped cream - hold the cake and cream (she got a nice bowl of fresh
berries) and my son had a dessert off the kids menu. A very good meal
and no one was traumatized. We got out of there about 7:00 and the
kids didn't want to do Fantasmic tonight; they wanted to go to DTD.
We headed out of the park and caught the first bus to come by. It was
the Caribbean Beach. We got off there and a DTD bus was just pulling
in. This is not a quick way to get to DTD, but it's the only way. It
was amazingly uncrowded. There are very few people in any of the
stores. We bought some nice things at the Christmas shop and the
scrapbooking store. The guys decided to head over to the magic shop
at the other end and Kim and I shopped this end. It's really nice to
shop without crowds. We met up at Ghirardelli's at 9:30. The guys
bought a few items from the magic shop, as usual. What a pleasure
this trip has been. I do not usually enjoy evenings at DTD- too
crowded. This trip we are able to wander through all the stores and
there wasn't even a line to pay.
We head back to the bus and back to the Beach Club.- Hide quoted text -
