Hi John!

Actually, Southwest, as of today, is accepting reservations through
December 10th... so as far as that one airline is concerned, now is the
time to get the reservations - as they book from cheap to expensive (and
you can actually see the tickets sell out on the website res system).
But the other poster is correct... once you buy those airline tix,
you're stuck with them. (You also didn't say where you were coming
from, so I wasn't able to look for specific flights for you.)

The room situation is a little more tricky. I normally booked my AP
room as soon as I knew I was going. You can ALWAYS cancel the
reservation and get a new one (up to a certain number of days before
your trip) without penalty. The kicker is that Disney wants full
payment for the hotel before you get there (in fact, they require the
deposit immediately). So, if you pay for a $1000 in room now, and get a
discounted room later, you just have to remember to make sure you get
the refunded difference.

I don't know if AP rates are out yet for December (I'm not an AP holder
this year)... but www.allearsnet.com or www.mousesavers.com should be
able to let you know. OK, I couldn't resist... mousesavers is saying
that AP rates are currently out through 9/30/06. So if you book a room
now, just keep an eye on things closer to October to see if the rates
come down. The problem you'll have is that as you get closer to xmas,
Disney is in peak season and they don't offer as many discounts.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks, Jeff

We just booked round trip from Albany, NY to Orlando 12/1 - 12/11 for
$575 (total). Last year, it would have coast us as much as $1,000 for
the same time frame. We have enought points for 1 free trip, but it
wasn't available for the dates we wanted, so we just went ahead and
booked it on USAir. I looked at SW website, they wanted $615 (total).
for the same time. We already booked 4 XMas Party tix (12/4,5,7,8)!!

We haven't been down to WDW in Dec since '01. The Osborne Lights were
being relocated that year.

Our upcoming trip is 09/12 - 09/25, but we coudn't resist also booking
a Dec trip!!! There's nothing like being at Disney during the
Christmas season!
