Biometrics

A quick ticket question about biometrics.

We (DH, myself, DD9, DS3) are going to WDW next week. We have tickets from
our last trip (2003) with 6 days remaining on them. We also have tickets
from our 2001 trip with a couple plus options left on them. I read in one
of the books that new MYW tickets use biometrics. Am I understanding
correctly that when we take our 2003 tickets to the park next week, we will
have to use the finger scan to use them? Do the children need to do the
finger scan too? Do they do the finger scan at the waterparks as well?
