And my son got sick the second night we were there- not enough time to
ingest A LOT of really bad food. Again, I'm convinced he picked up a flu
bug. It lasted 24 hours and then he was fine. Out of all those people at
WDW- some of them have to be sick. If you plan months ahead and a kid gets
sick... you go anyway and hope for the best and then the kid touches all
kinds of stuff.

I'm sorry about the illness as well, however, it sounds like you almost
answered your own issue. When most people get sick after eating at WDW,
they fail to recognize just how much their usual diet has changed
compared
to their eating habits back home. When your body is subjected to a
sudden
change in eating habits (i.e., massive quantities of food for an extended
period of time), it will fight back. Typically, this will be in the form
of
a bad stomachache, diarrhea, or a general feeling of nausea.
Nonsense. You don't throw up "all night" from overeating or a change in
diet, unless part of that change includes the addition of unwanted
organisms.
In addition to how much food is consumed, its just as important to take
into
consideration what is being eaten. For example, if everyday, your child
eats a pastry of some sort for breakfast, chicken fingers and fries for
lunch, a burger for dinner, and ice cream at every opportunity, he/she
will
end up very sick after a day or two.
That's ridiculous.
Granted, I'm not saying food poisoning is impossible. I'm sure there are
cases of it happening, but from what I see from my experience working at
the
front desk of WDW resorts, this is a common occurrence.
Most of this stuff IS food poisoning, but it may not be from the food.
People need to keep their hands away from their mouths, try to wash
their hands before they eat and pretty much assume that the table they
sit down to eat at has germs on it. Your body is exposed to a barrage
of pathogens at WDW; pretending it's too much junk food is not helping
to address the problem for the guests.
I've been to WDW five times and for me the food can be one of the best
things about it- there are a lot of good-great restaurants. Neither I
nor anyone in my family has ever gotten sick there. You don't have to
be obsessive about it, you just need to keep in mind basic principles
of hygiene that apply when you are spending time with a very high
concentration of humanity from all corners of the globe.
