Hey all... I read this story on Screamscape and also in the Orlando
Sentinel. Does anyone know why all this land is being sold? I'm just
nervous 'the World' is changing. What do you all think?

"Resort News - (3/29/06) The Orlando Sentinel reports that Disney World
has sold off nearly 100 acres of property on the outskirts of the
resort. They just completed a deal to sell 53 acres on Sherberth Road,
just to the south of Disney's Animal Kingdom and AK Lodge, to a
developer planning on building vacation homes and condos. Another 47
acres off of Reams Road (Behind the Magic Kingdom) was also sold off to
another developer. Disney has put another 30 acre lot off Highway 192
on the market as well. "

All these properties are on the fringe of the property. The most
interesting one, IMO, is the one off Sherberth, since that piece of
land is basically right outside an entrance (you don't even have to hit
192 to get on property from there -- about as close to being on
property as you can get). I think the unsold location on 192 is located
near the new Western Beltway interchange, between AKL and Orange Lake
CC.

As for the one on Reams Rd (north of the property) check out this

It looks like when this aerial view was taken, there was some sort of
house or trailer on that piece of land. But if you click on bird's-eye
view of the same location, the building is gone! So it was cleared
fairly recently, probably in the last few years.
