Wanted to chime in here about the CHF. My Dear Aunt has CHF and as long
as her meds are balanced correctly, she does pretty good and feels
good. Actually, her thyroxin being off is more likely to cause
problems; that and the fact that we've only now been able to convince
her (at 73+yrs) that "Mickey Mouse Shoes" (i.e. athletic / TRUE walking
shoes) are a good idea <ha ha>. She had a problem with shin splints at
WDW in November/December. We had told her to get a pair of shoes w/
more support & bounce, she said her walking shoes (Keds, not walking
shoes, but she does walk in them everyday ~ 1 to 3 miles for exercise).
Something learned on trip with 73 yr old Aunt and with 18 yr old Niece:
Good shoes and plenty of socks in good condition are MUSTS at WDW. Your
family members may not agree, but it's a good idea to gently and not so
gently tell them repeatedly that the walking at WDW isn't like the
walking for exercise or the walking around a college campus.
Also, taking frequent breaks to SIT is good.
And lastly, suggest a long warm shower to relax leg muscles before
bedtime & stretching in the morning for aching shins.
