This is going to be a brief update, as I am getting behind---there is
so much to do onboard and since it is my first cruise, I am out there
doing things rather than typing <g>!
I woke up at 6:00 and updated the trip report, although posted it late
because I kept forgetting to charge my computer battery! We had
breakfast at Beach Blanket buffet and it was a very nice spread, with
smoked salmon and capers, made-to-order omelets, breakfast meats,
biscuits and gravy, lots of fresh fruit, etc.
Nassau was our stop today, and we did get off the boat for 30 minutes
or so. Mom had a request from a co-worker for a shot glass from here.
We browsed a few shops, listened to a great street musician, and made a
few purchases. I did get some of the tortuga rum cakes which I really
like as well as a few stocking stuffers. Mom also got her mother a rum
Back on board, we did exactly what we had planned today--spent a good
majority of it lounging by the pool and reading! We swam as well, and
the adult pool is a nice peaceful haven from the children. One teenager
did try to invade it but was soon chased away by a cast member. The
weather again today was beautiful! No clouds, bright sun and no
oppressively hot. The water felt great too, and I enjoyed sitting in
the shallow area at the side of the pool with my book (I am reading
two, and this one is Indelible by Karen Slaughter. She's a thriller
writer who lives in Grant Park in Atlanta).
For lunch we once again had Beach Blanket Buffet that had a pretty nice
spread; it showcases American food and the desserts were especially
delicious. We even took a couple for later that night, putting them in
the fridge in our stateroom.
After lunch came more lounging, as well as a trip to the rainforest
room, and then some walking around the ship. We took the Behind the
Theme Show Ship tour that afternoon and found it to be very
interesting--we will definitley be doing more of these types of tours!
Afterward, we returned to our stateroom to change for the Golden
Mickeys. This was a great show and we had very good seats for it. I
would definitely say this is a must do for a first time cruiser, and I
think we will always attend it.
Afterwards, we weren't very hungry so decided to skip Trtiton's for the
evening (we will be eating there tomorrow) and just split a small
pizza. Both of us were pretty wiped for the evening, so decided to
spend some relaxing time in Cove Cafe with some nice hot drinks before
turning in for the night around 10:00, but not before I dropped off a
quote request for the seven day Wonder Cruise to the Western
Caribbean...looks like we are hooked!:)
