Re: Narnia at WDW/DL?

Well, that's the "Turkish Delight" Lewis was referring to--

(Evidently common to wartime UK kids in the book, but when one aborted movie version tried updating Edmund's temptation to "a cheeseburger", purists howled.)

Now that's an interesting question you raise. If they were going to update it to current American culture, what would they use. It would have to be something that is universally recognized as something (probably sweet) that children would eat until they got sick if their parents would let them. When I was you (1960s) it might have been Hershey bars.

In said [thankfully] aborted John Boorman version (and you shoulda seen what he was planning to do with LOTR, if they'd let him), the four children were going to be modern-day kids evacuated from a LA earthquake--
(And yes, Lewis-estate chief Douglas Gresham shut down the project, although some traces might still float into the current script...)

And, to underscore the other point, ie. that resentful Edmund was willing to rat out for a common-snack mess of pottage, the cheeseburger was going to be a minor plot point, ie. he'd wanted to get one before they were evacuated, but "bossy" Peter wouldn't let him...
