Thanks for taking the time to share your non-Disney reports as well. We tend to either preceed or follow on your iteneraries for some weird reason, but have never done Yosimete (at least I haven't). My partner did hike half-dome on his 40th birthday, and we're often in Bakersfield. You've inspired us to go for Sequoia, Kings, and Yosemite.
As for being bowled over by geography, if you ever do another Western trip, I highly recommend the "Great Circle" of Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park in Utah are particularly striking, and I think your kids (as well as you and Tam) would love the Native American ruins at Mesa Verde in Colorado.
Can't wait for the rest - and eventually I'll get the rest of our trip that preceeded yours up!
