After the Park Closes but Before MVMCP

I have heard conflicting reports regarding what happens after the park
closes before a MVMCP and before the party starts.

Deb's site states:
The Magic Kingdom Park closes at 5 p.m. on MVMCP nights. You will have to
leave the park and re-enter for the MVMCP.

I have also heard unofficially that everyone who is staying for the party is
herded into Tomorrowland to await the festivities.

Anyone know what actually happens? I will never forget trying to get back
into the park once for a MNSSHP back in '96.
