Re: "Pistol Grip" Hand Hold

Hi, Trent. I find that followers (or really anyone for that matter)
will actually complain about something during a social dance. We
usually try to be more polite than that, LOL. This thread was just a
means to spark discussion on the matter.

I think you are castigating a valid technique because you either don't
like it or have dealt with people who use it incorrectly. Neither of
which is a valid reason for saying it is wrong to use or to question
why it is still taught.

I'm not castigating... merely offering my opinion, the reasons for it,
and asking others for their opinions. I'm glad you've offered your
opinion. That' what this thread is about - finding out if it's still
taught out there and why. You've stepped up and stated your opinion
and why, that's great, that helps me understand it better.

Luckily I have a number of follows that are quite candid about leads
(including me). I depend on them for their honest feedback.

I will put what I was taught aspistol-grip up as secure and agile and
as perfectly useful in WCS. I will speak with the follows I know and
ask them if they experience discomfort in the connection and/or hands
when dancing with me. I expect that they don't - else they would have
told me

Most of the discomfort we've talked about in this thread stemmed from
the "thumbs on top" issue which is completely separate from thepistol
grip issue.

We came up with a t-shirt. It's a big thumbs-up picture with the big
red circle and X through it. Very few seemed to get it, though.
