As an event director of a WCS convention, I wouldn't dream of telling
anyone what to wear...although there have been times I would have liked
to have told a few what not to wear :-)
I'm asked quite often by many dancers about what they should wear at a
3-4 day convention. I usually reply to the ladies that my experience has
shown that the dress-up night is usually on Saturday night...after five
attire if they wish. Men...slacks and shirts or more.
I also tell them that by Sunday most dancers are tired and dress more
casual.
Most dancers at conventions wear what they normally wear out social
dancing...dance clothes, whatever that might be.
As far as staff is concerned, I expect them to be presentable although I
have never had to say that to them. As a matter of fact, they prefer me
and the rest of the staff to be more dressed up on Saturday night...in
which I comply :-)
Curtailing dancers' fun with dress codes, per se', would be bad
business.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we may as
well dance.
