A year or three ago, I suffered an injury (reported here) unquestionably caused by my Follower turning when she was not Led to do so and then throwing her weight (with inertia) into my arm depending upon me to support her. Well, I did, dammit, but I shoulda dropt her. The supporting arm turned sorta black from the base of the thumb to the crux of the elbow.

<< . . . a woman with whom I've previously danced, Followed everything I Lead with one exception, but that exception resulted in a very serious injury to me; the long muscle on the thumb side of the arm that goes down from the elbow joint. I did a thing I do with most Followers. Although it's considered to be an "advanced" move it isn't difficult for Followers. Rather than Following exactly what I Lead, being a side-by-side lunge, she turned and bent backward depending upon me to support her weight, keep my balance, and provide stability for her balance. Had I dropt her, I would not be injured. I didn't and am. When I got home, I could not hold a cup of tea even though, when not dancing, I held a bag of ice to the injured muscle. Twenty-four hours later, I could but it still hurts. >>

Ouch. I sure hope it's all healed up.

Yes, thank you. Although I'm not sure which of two women she was, I've since danced with each and just don't do dat with either of them.

Based upon your telling of the tale, he did the correct thing but it could very easily have turned out dif'rently.

Ah, but it didn't, and that's what really matters. :-)
