Fundamentally, dancing is a partnership. Moreover, it is not a matter
of lead and follow. It is indication of direction and then allowing
the woman to dance.
The foregoing approach is distinguishable from "control" as discussed
in the thread.
I don't compete primarily because I don't care about awards or
recognition, other than appreciation from my partner in dance.
If some one else desires to compete, I am sure that such is appropriate
for him or her.
Here you have a complaint from the women that the "leads" aren't
allowing them to dance. This conflicts with my philosophy of dance and
my attitude towards my partners. The complaints indicate something
less than satisfaction in the dance on the part of the women partners.
I am more concerned with that expression rather than with differences
in judging for awards.
