Varnished floor

Our salsa club venue is a basement with a solid tongue & groove oak floor which has previously been sanded, sealed and varnished after flood damage. What is the best treatment to make it suitable for dancing? Should a penetrating sealant be applied after re-sanding? Would that affect the dancing surface? Or should it be left as bare wood, or polished?
