So apparently Brooke McEldowney didn't demand that the syndicate turn off the comments to 9CWL and Pibgorn because he couldn't stand the beef wits disparaging his work but only to save us from the flame wars that apparently erupted in such space.

From what I remember, most of the comments were sycophantic and the only "flaming" was questions about the truck-sized holes in Brooke's narrative logic.

Nice to know that Brooke was only thinking about our delicate sensibilities.
