Well, not that he specifically had, no. In fact, I don't know
of another case in which he did say he failed to have a joke because of
some real-life reason. It's just that the comic idea of saying that
there's no joke today has been done enough times and by enough comic
strip writers that I suppose I guess whenever someone *does* say that a
real-life issue has stopped them I assume *that's* meant to be a joke.
Yeah, he has done a lot of meta-strips over the years --- and I
thought the first one of these was only (faint smile) funny, but I did
like the second one.
The second is funnier, although I have to admit again that if
I didn't know from an outside source that Breathed were actually hurt
I'd assume he was doing a (fairly good) job of building on the
'Typewriter In The Sky' view of God.
