Every strip can't be Funky or Foob; there is a long tradition of
frozen-in-time characters in comic strips.
Given that, some form of reset button becomes necessary as characters
that can't age can't really "develop" or learn from experience
either. Zits has, perhaps, re-used very similar scenarios without
actually repeating events or gags (would this have been better if
Jeremy and Hector were refurbishing, say, an old car vs. the Microbus
this time around)?
