The first time I had a migraine aura, I wondered if my retina was
detaching ... and then I realized that the light show was appearing in
both eyes, meaning it was a problem in the brain. The aura ended up
blocking the left side of my field of vision in both eyes, with much
the effect shown with Toggle (only bright, not dark).
I get one or two migraines a year. My first one, maybe 15 or so years ago,
scared the crap out of me. I thought I was going blind--and fast! Then the
headache hit.
If you have the luxury of sitting back and analyzing your own migraine,
they can be an interesting neurological experience.
